Putting
Mt. Vernon
on the map
Mount Vernon’s campus was recently
memorialized on canvas by
commissioned artist Sarah Long of
Savannah. This is the second piece of
fine art Long has produced for the
college.
The recent artwork illustrates the main
buildings and landmark features in a
beautiful campus map. Her previous
work showed the college “At the Center
of it All” in the state of Georgia and was
featured in the Fall 2006 issue of The
LAMP. Both paintings will be used
through the Office of Marketing for
admissions and general marketing
initiatives, said President Dr. David R.
Smith.

“Sarah Long is one of the most talented
young artists that I have ever known,”
added Dr. Smith. “Her talent is
surpassed only by her love for her Lord
and her family. We are honored to have
her artistic creation to help us market
Brewton-Parker College.”
Long is a graduate of Savannah College
of Art and Design, where she earned a
graduate degree in fine arts with an
emphasis in illustration. Both she and
her husband, Russ (’98), are adjunct
professors at BPC’s Savannah Center,
located inside Calvary of Savannah.
