> With February being the month for sweet
kisses and romantic declarations of love, Faces
columnist sandra shrader’s interview with
dating consultant Fléchelle Morin (pg. 34), proved
to be very timely—or rather, timeless. “My 96-year-
old grandmother probably wouldn’t be amazed at Flechelle’s notions
about refraining from casual kissing on dates,” remarks Sandra. “But, in
today’s ‘hurry-up-and-get-in-a-relationship’ culture, her simple rules
about how to avoid falling in love with the ‘wrong’ person
seem practically revolutionary.”
> “Valentine's Day is just a number's game
and love has nothing to do with it!” says Her
Say columnist heidi haller in this month’s holiday
survival guide for singles (pg. 33.) A two-time national
award winner in creative copy, Heidi’s "eclectic” talents
have led her to adapt a children’s book from a screen play, write greeting card
verses and contribute columns to numerous publications including the South
County Business Digest, Kids and Family and Orange County Register. She has
also appeared on the Cybil Sheppard show; Men are From Mars, Women Are
from Venus and hosted a seminar for women exploring their life purpose.
> In this month’s Family Time column (pg. 42),
Amy Bentley writes about The Mission San
Juan Capistrano’s annual “Return of the Swallows
celebration.” “Why read about history from
books, when such a place of museum-quality is
much more interesting and educational?,” asks Amy. A huge history
buff, Amy has visited several other prominent missions throughout Southern
California. She currently resides in Temecula with her husband; 8-year-old
son; a cat and “two very spoiled dogs.”
> “it’s where the hippies who grew up
and got sophisticated go,” exclaims The
Scoop columnist natalie Rohwer on her
latest assignment at The Melting Pot restaurant
in Temecula (pg 48.) Natalie’s got a new beat
and—thanks to a recent shopping spree—new threads to wear at her
next assignment there. Hint: She’ll be the one in the black dress licking
the fondue spoon! A writer, runner, and mother of two, Natalie enjoys
finding the fun wherever she goes.
> “I’m always a little skeptical of hotel food, which
is one of the reasons I didn’t get married in a hotel,”
explains Chef Interrupted columnist Brook Larios.
“But Chef Danny Bannister and his crew at
the hyatt Regency Mission Bay’s Red Marlin
Restaurant blew me away.” In this month’s column (pg. 21), Bannister
reveals his no-frills philosophy of food including his favorite place to go for
street tacos. A foodie, freelance writer and PR specialist, Brooke divides her
time outside of work between her husband of six years and their 32 year-old
“daughter,” a horse named Flatlander.
