Hard defi nition television
Western Digital – famous for its hard
drives – have come up with an easy way
to play your stored music and movies on
a telly. This media player can handle full
HD (1080p) video and connects to the
TV through HDMI. Plug any hard disk or
solid state drive (like the one on the left)
into the media player (right) via USB, then
link the player to your TV for a simple
storage-to-screen solution.

Sound sphere
This wireless speaker plays music
streamed from Bluetooth-equipped
mobiles. As well as having touch-
sensitive controls, it lets you use your
phone as a remote. The speaker is
actually a 2.1 stereo system with a built-in
subwoofer for bass and it automatically
mutes when your mobile receives a call.

Hold caller
This machine acts as your personal
receptionist. It sits between your home
phone and the line and intercepts
incoming calls, allowing friends
and family through, but blocking
telemarketers. When strangers call, the
machine asks them why they’re calling,
before playing their response to you (if
they say anything). You can then choose
whether you want to pick up.
