Hamilton Prep Hamilton High Huskies
Spelling champ – Seventh-grader Vikaas Krithivas won the school spelling bee and will represent High fi ves – The 2007-08 Hamilton Varsity Girls Soccer Team was honored with the National Soccer
Hamilton Prep at the Chandler Unifi ed School District’s spelling bee on Jan. 22. Coaches Association of America High School Team Academic Award for exemplary performance in the
High fi ve – Charles Anthony was recognized by the VFW as the secondary teacher of the year for his classroom as a team. The team has an average 3.79 GPA and is the only Arizona girls’ team to receive
efforts to incorporate patriotism into his social studies lessons. He was recognized at a recent awards this award.

Food drive – Mr. Reed’s social-studies class won a school competition for collecting the most cans
in the Student Council’s recent canned food drive for the United Food Bank. Student Council provided the
incentive and the prize: doughnuts. Thanks to everyone for supporting students and their efforts.
Scrip sales – Hamilton Prep’s scrip program is open to anyone interested in funding student events.
Contact the front offi ce for details on the program. It is free money that goes directly to the students to
support their programs. Hamilton Prep’s scrip drawing winner Damian K. received a $20 Chipotle gift card

for his family.
Family orientations – Horizon hosts several orientation meetings for families interested in HCLC for
Sports banquet – The semester’s all-sports banquet celebrated 86 students who participated in
the upcoming 2009-10 school year. The lottery process will be discussed and applications distributed to
Hamilton Prep sports events. The students were awarded participation certifi cates and enjoyed dinner
all interested families. Orientations, which begin in the HCLC Multipurpose Room at 6 p.m., are scheduled
with their families and faculty. Special thanks to Phyllis B. and the fall sports social committee members
for Thu., Jan. 15; Thu., Feb. 5; and Tue., Feb. 24. Reserve a space by calling 480-659-3000.

Lunch bunch – Seton Catholic High hosts a mass and luncheon honoring grandparents from 10 a.m.
to 2 p.m. Tue., Jan. 27. Mass takes place at St. Andrews Parish in Chandler with lunch to follow in Seton’s

Booster Club – The next Booster Club meeting takes place at 4 p.m. Tue., Jan. 20 in the library.
Fundraiser fun – Seton Catholic High hosts its annual student fundraiser from 8 a.m. to noon Fri.,
Write stuff – The “best unpublished author” Kevin Herbst meets with students in the library at lunch
Jan. 30 on the Seton football fi eld. Donors can sponsor Seton students in a 5K Fun Run/Walk through

Chandler High Wolves
Financial Aid Night – Chandler High hosts a Financial Aid Night at 6:30 p.m. Tue., Jan. 13 at Chandler
Center for the Arts. All parents and students are invited to learn more about the Free Application for
Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA.
Sporting chance – Bryce Lamb was chosen to the Arizona Football Coaches Association 5A I & II
All-State Team. He was selected to two of 26 positions: defensive back and return specialist. Rodney
Reagans, an inside linebacker, was chosen to the Arizona Football Coaches All-Star Team, which will play
in the Annual North-South Game this coming June. Tommy Jilek, offensive lineman, was selected as an
alternate for the same game.
Global unity – Chandler High students recently had the opportunity to attend the Model United Nations
Featuring
conference hosted by Harvard University. Students focused on civics, communications, globalization and
multilateral diplomacy, and worked with students from all over the world.

Sponsors needed – Parental and corporate sponsors are needed for CHS’s two annual fundraising
events: the Family Film Festival, held in spring 2009, which will be a community event, and the new Autism
Awareness Club.
