Clive’s top fitness tips
Ahmed offers a gym user
help and guidance
Meet Clive, our fitness advisor who has
worked at the Littledown Centre for
nearly 20 years. When he first started
at the Littledown Centre he was a
swimming coach, but now at the age
of 72, he is part of the gym team.
Having worked in the Army, keeping fit
and healthy has always been a part of
Clive’s life and he has some top tips to
help you get in shape this winter.
• Consult your doctor before embarking on
any major lifestyle change – especially if you
have not exercised for a while or have a
medical condition.
• Set achievable goals and visualise the
results – imagine how you will feel when you
have reached your goals. Do you want to
feel happier, stronger, fitter, healthier? Use
this technique daily to help keep you
motivated.
Diary date
• Don’t try to do too much too soon and
know your limits – building up your stamina
over time will create longer lasting results.
• Go at your own pace – it’s not a race to be
the fastest, strongest or exercise the
longest. Work with your fitness advisor on a
programme designed just for you.
• Listen to your body – aches and pains are
your body’s way of telling you to take it
easy, rest and recover.
Come and see the new
Stokewood Leisure Centre gym.
• Commit to getting fit - plan your exercise

classes and swimming sessions
other commitments don’t clash. Remember
