WHOLE SCHOOL (K-6) OLYMPIC SPORTS DAY
Postponed till Friday 31 August PAUL KELLY CUP
Our boys’ AFL team performed impressively in Bathurst at the Paul Kelly Cup Regional Final on Monday. On a surprisingly sunny and pleasant day the team played with a great deal of skill and energy and did very well.
The first game against Parkes resulted in a 44-20 victory for CPS. This was followed by a game against Young - again a successful game which resulted in a 65-0 victory. The third game against Mudgee was a ripper and the boys beat the Mudgee team 72-0! Cowra Public School then moved into the semi-finals in which they were narrowly beaten by Holy Family, Bathurst by 8 points. Teamwork and sportsmanship were in evidence all throughout the day and the boys did our school proud.
Mr Murray would like to thank all those parents who provided transport, advice and moral support on the day. He would particularly like to thank Mr Brett McCormack who took time out of his busy schedule to train the boys at lunchtimes and for organising the loan of the Cowra Blues AFL shirts. greatly appreciated.

WEDNESDAY, 18 JULY Our annual Athletics Carnival has been rescheduled for Wednesday, 18 July (Week 1, Term 3). As in previous years, track events, novelties and ball games will take place on the day of the carnival and field events will be run as a sport choice. This means that those students who wish to compete in high jump, long jump, shot-put and discus will do so on Friday afternoons during sport. Winter sport has now commenced.
All primary students are expected and encouraged to
attend the Athletics
Carnival and all will be entered into their 100m age race. Students then have the option of running in the 800m and 200m races and participating in ball games and novelty events.
The P & C will be cooking up a storm with a sausage sizzle on offer for lunch and the SRC will be giving prizes to the best dressed supporters for their House.
Please remember that it may be very cold so please bring plenty of warm clothing and something waterproof to sit on (plastic garbage bags are very suitable).
We are still keen to have as many parent helpers assisting us as possible. Please contact Mrs Duncan is you are available to help.

CANTEEN ASSISTANCE
Lisa, the canteen manageress is looking for volunteers to assist in running the canteen in Term 3.
Please consider spending one day a month volunteering. It is a great way to keep in touch with your children and their friends.
The canteen is a great fundraiser for the school and all profits from this source are shared evenly between the Infants and Primary divisions of the school, and are expended on equipment for pupil and teacher use.
Although we have a full-time Manageress, Mrs Lisa Willis, we also require a volunteer each day to assist with the preparation and sale of food.
Volunteer assistance is needed from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. daily OR perhaps 9.00am until 11.00am to make the lunches.
If you could assist, please ring the school or see Lisa in the canteen.
