Cowra Public School TACKLE A BOOK -
INDIGENOUS STUDENTS Cowra Public
School Indigenous
students will be involved in an AECG initiative to promote reading between Indigenous children and their carers. This initiative is titled “Tackle a Book”. The program will run along-side the current practice of Home Reading at the school and will not
require additional
commitment from parents. The program will run from Week 10 Term 2 until Week 2 Term 3.
The Book program is also running a Community Day on 27 July and invites all Indigenous carers and children involved in the program to come to River Park for activities and sports as a reward for their involvement.
The day is designed to promote literacy to children, parents and community members while playing games.
WOOLWORTHS EARN &
LEARN Woolworths Earn & Learn promotion is on again this year.
Parents and friends can continue collecting
stickers from Woolworths
extended to the 12th August. Remember .. .. The
more stickers
collected the greater the number of resources the school can purchase. Send in your completed cards or just send in the stickers and we will place them on a card. More cards available at the school office.
Total amount of point to-date is 11,000. Keep up sending in those stickers.
AUSTRALIAN DEVELOPMENT (AEDI)
EARLY INDEX
This week kindergarten teachers have been entering data for
Australian Early
Development Index (AEDI). This is a type of census showing how young children are developing in different communities. "This information enables communities and governments to services,
pinpoint the types of resources and support young
children and families need to give children the best possible start in life."
This is a valuable tool in the planning and provision of services within our local area. All information is private (in accordance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988). Thank you for your support for this valuable program.

COLES SPORTS FOR
SCHOOLS Cowra Public
School will again be
participating in the Coles Sports for Schools voucher collection which enables us to earn points and exchange them for sports equipment.
When you shop at Coles you will receive a voucher for every $10.00 you spend. You only need to bring in or send these vouchers to school.
This collection of
vouchers started last week and will continue until 14 August 2012.
Please encourage anyone and everyone to contribute their vouchers
to Cowra
Public School. There will be a box at the front office in which to place your dockets.
Kindergarten Students for the month of June
PEER SUPPORT GROUPS
Starting Thursday, 26 July (Week 2) the whole school will again take part in Peer Support Groups.
These groups encourage positive
relationships between the students and develop communication.
The activities cover art and craft, music, dance, science activities, board games and many more activities.
Jimmy Hazell K/1R Jimmy received his award for being an
insightful, mature and caring student who always shows an interest in his work. Jimmy is a kind friend and considerate class-mate. He attempts all activities enthusiastically and is an interested
learner who asks relevant and thought- provoking questions
Candice Meeuwisse KB
Candice received her award for being a mature, enthusiastic and confident
student who listens well and follows all directions. Candice enjoys helping her teachers and classmates. She happily participates in all activities and loves learning
Students will have the opportunity to rotate each fortnight into different groups to experience the many different activities available.
Congratulations to the Stage 3 students who have been chosen to act as group leaders.
