SO MUCH TO DO– SO LITTLE TIME!
What an exciting term - lots of extra activities. A number of children achieved BRONZE merit award since the last Grapevine – namely Jackson Reeves, Angus Whatman, Rianna Reeves, Hailey Williams, Emily Beath-Peace, Mitchell, Mary Talbot, Sharmayne Welsh, Isabelle Abby, Baily Peckham and Nicholas Abby. They are now striving for SILVER, continuing to receive ‘Classic Catch Awards’ for schooling, respect and responsibility and participation.
New Sign - Next time you drive past take a look at our new school sign. Thanks to Simon and Lynda Abby of ‘Label Everything’ for designing, installing and donating this for the school.
District Cross Country Congratulations Riley Whatman for a super run in the District Cross Country in Boorowa, coming 2nd
in
the 2000 metres and qualifying for the Regional Cross Country.
Infants Assembly - The infants showcased their super work to parents and family in our recent assembly.
Ruth Workman On the first of June parents and staff enjoyed a meal together at Vince’s restaurant to recognize Ruth Workman’s 16 years volunteer service to our School and P & C. Ruth stepped down as P & C president this year but still gives her time as the vice president and helps with reading in the classroom.
Cooking - The kids have been having hands-on cooking lessons and tasting new dishes including sushi and spinach quiche. YUM!
Our Visit to NASA On Friday 22nd
June at 9:30-
10:30am (that’s 6:30-7:30pm Texas time!) we ‘visited’ NASA in Houston (Texas, USA). Mrs. Patten organized a superb Virtual Tour with NASA, very professionally guided by `Steve’. The LIVE video stream took us through NASA Visitors Museum and the ‘ins and outs’ of a working space station. The children were especially enthralled by the issue of waste disposal - both human and material!
Would you believe Astronauts’ bodies grow up to 5 cm whilst in space?
What about….Astronauts exercise 2 hours every day whilst in space?
And…while in space astronauts travel at 28,000 kilometres per hour. All true!
This has been our second virtual tour. Both have been extremely interesting. Where will we visit next? National Tree Day The school will celebrate National Tree day on Friday 27th
July with a tree planting
day in the grounds. This will be the beginning of the beautification of the front of the school grounds.
