PYTHONS RUGBY NEWS On Saturday the Canowindra Pythons travelled to Orange to play against the Waratahs. The game was played at CSU’s oval as part of a double header which was also the Aggie’s club Ladies Day and a fundraiser for the McGrath Foundation. The game started slow with too much dropped ball but then the Pythons got going and by half time the score was 48 – 0 in favour of Canowin- dra. Tries in the first half were scored by Lachlan Noble – 3 and one each to Mitch Collins, Stuart Gavin, Sean Wyburn, Ben Enosa & Tom Wills. Tom Abbott kicked 4 goals. The second half was more of the same from the Canowindra Pythons with tries to Daniel Bowd, another to Ben Enosa and Mitch Collins and one to the Pythons stalwart – Rolls Townsend. Goals were kicked by Mitch Collins and Daniel Bowd. Points: Lachlan Noble 3; Clint Oborn 2; Daniel Williams 1; Todd Wyburn 1. Players Player:shared by Lachlan Noble and Todd Wyburn Next week is a big week for the club with the annual Sponsors and Members day. The Pythons will be up against the Cudal Cobras in the local derby. Kick off is at 3.15pm at Tom Clyburn oval. Be sure to bring your members badge with you for free beer and wine from kick off until the final whistle. Membership can be paid on the day. After the speeches the players will be auctioning of some yabbies to have their second yabby race for the year, with plenty of laughs and hopefully a few quick yabbies it should be a cracker of a night. HARD HITTING TIGERS Sunday turned a bitter shade of cold though it never seemed cold in our Tigers hearts with Youth League and First Graders taking out the day with some fantastic plays from all. Youth League came up against their grand final rivals from two years running, and showed them what a cold snap can do. The first try went to Peak Hill in the first three and a half minutes, and the Tigers lost the ball for them to score again taking the score to 12-0. Canowindra began to control the ball well and pushed forward to see Dylan Beer dive from dummy half to put them on the board. A few penalties went their way and a kick went up to see Mick Watt score. With a failed conversion the score went to 12-10 at half time. With some constructive words from the coach at halftime, the boys hit the field a running. The referee kept a lot of the rough play aside and the penalties just kept coming, although very evenly spread, the Tigers made the most of theirs. Kain Earsman and Mick Clyburn, along with Jacob Devlin & Harry Myers took the big hit ups to hold Peak Hill at bay and catch them of guard to break through the defence to see Dylan Beer score. In the 28th minute Kain scored under the posts to seal the deal and take the score to a 28-16 win. Players' Player went to Kain Earsman, 3 points to Kain, 2 to Mick Clyburn, and 1 to Dylan Beer. Well done boys. First Grade travelled to Trundle for their first game with the newly constructed side. Even though the weather wasn’t any better in Trundle, it didn’t stop the boys from showing themselves off. The Tigers started off slow in the windy conditions & in the first half didn’t complete many of their set plays, but after a while warmed to the bad conditions & went with it. Rusty even managed to take home a hat trick for the game. Rob Burns golden boot is still on fire with a 7 for 7 kicking day, it was great to see some hard work can pay off. The score at the end of the day was a massive 60-6 win. Three points went to Blocker (Brenton Woolley), 2 to Peter Pita, and 1 to Rambo (Brendan Dean). This weekend First Grade and Tigresses have the bye, and Youth League travel to Grenfell. Good luck boys, we hope the weather is a little kinder to you.
