Anglican Youth Army
It wasn’t all about the Anzacs in April! You may have noticed, in the last week of the school holidays, an army of a different sort in town! Over a period of three afternoons some 70 young people,
from
different churches in Sydney, gathered and stayed at Forbes where they spent their mornings in Bible studies, workshops and discussion. The rest of the day was spent putting their Christianity into action. In the afternoons they were broken up into groups of about twenty and allocated to small towns around Forbes to do voluntary work where needed. Gooloogong was one of those towns selected and for three afternoons they applied themselves to the following tasks – GPS – gardening, painting and mulching. The Log cabin – clearing out rubbish from under the building and stage. The Memorial Hall – spreading a large amount of mulch. They also cleaned up the back yard of a local widow. At the Anglican Church they pulled up old carpet. Our thanks go to Ray Flint of the Anglican Church Army for arranging for these young people to come into our Village. We were very impressed with the youth who came, giving up a week of their school holidays to help others. And they did such a great job. Dennis & Marie Sargent

participate in the Anzac Day March. Everyone looked very smart and was on their best behavior. It was lovely to see so many of our students attend this very significant day. Our school received a facelift in the holidays from the visiting Anglican Youth Army. We are very grateful for their help and unselfish giving. The school received a garden makeover and some painting for playground activities. We would like to acknowledge Dennis Sargent for coordinating this for Gooloogong and including our school.
