EAST GRINSTEAD FINALLY

indoors
INDOOR FINALS TROPHY the best that I’ve witnessed in the last
10 years or so and therefore we knew
that we were going to have to be at our
very best over 80 minutes if we were
to regain the title. We didn’t have our
best game against Loughborough in the
league but we knew that we’d improved
enough to go through to the fi nal if we
stuck to our game plan, which we did.
Sure, we thought back to last year, and
that experience helped us want the
result all the more.
Are you ever worried about injuries
subsequently affecting your outdoor
season?
You can’t let it worry you. If you play
the game properly and wear the right
protective equipment, you’ve got to be
very unlucky to sustain an injury that
will put you out of action long enough
to effect the outdoor season. The
advantages of playing throughout the
winter months outweigh the potential
negatives. That’s certainly our take on
it! Let’s hope I’m not proved wrong next
year!
Does this indoor win mark a watershed
for East Grinstead in the bid for the
title?
Winning the indoor double and
remaining undefeated through the
indoor league season is a huge boost to
the players and the club. It’s something
that eg with its indoor pedigree prides
itself on, so we are naturally very
pleased to have accomplished that
achievement and be representing
england in europe next year. With the
friendly rivalry that exists between our
two clubs, recent results will certainly
give the players extra incentives not
that they need them.
What happens in EG when a trophy is
won?
The entire club gets together and
celebrates en mass. It’s crucial that you
