Science&Innovation SPECIAL REPORT
www.holyrood.com
‘Science for Scotland’ sets out the Government’s strategy for supporting the
nation’s science and technology base as a means of boosting the economy.
It focuses on three key areas: science education and careers, research and
knowledge exchange. This special report examines how the strategy will
impact on science-demanding industries in Scotland such as life sciences,
aerospace, defence, energy and electronics. It looks at some of the initiatives
already under way, such as the Saltire Prize, the new Science Baccalaureate
and the Government’s International Lifelong Learning Strategy. And it features
perspectives from Anne Glover, the Government’s Chief Scientific Officer,
Professor Anton Muscatelli, the Convener of Universities Scotland, Nick Dusic,
Director of The Campaign for Science and Engineering in the UK, and Sir Peter
Williams, Treasurer and Vice President of The Royal Society among others.
Report published on 12 January 2009.
