MeLNA’s Charity Work
Project Didn’t Happen in 2008
Due to the lack of a volunteer to chair the
Charity Work Project this year, MeLNA was
unable to hold this annual endeavor. We
have had two applications, both of which
were turned down. The Executive
Committee hopes someone will come
forward to head up this enterprise in 2009.
Here is a description of that chair’s position.
!Work with the MeLNA Executive
Committee to choose the charity project.
!Visit the awarded project site to
familiarize yourself with the site.
!Responsible for design and/or
implementation of design that has been
!Request donations for the project from
MeLNA members, which includes a list of
plants, materials and equipment needed for
the day.
!Schedule the project workday in
coordination with the MeLNA Executive
!Coordinate volunteers for the scheduled
day of the project as well as delivery of all
plants and materials.
!Work with the project owners to ensure the
volunteers’ coffee, juice, snacks, and lunch
will be provided as well as a choice of
beverage throughout the day.
!Flag and/or paint the site a day or two
before the project workday.
!Submit a list of volunteers and donor list
to the project owners as well as a
maintenance schedule for the completed
landscape project.
!Thank all volunteers and donors of plants
and materials.

It sounds like a lot, but remember, it is fun,
rewarding and those that will come to help
have experience and know how. You won’t
be doing this alone.
