IGNITION
CHAMPION SPARK PLUGS
Many vintage and classic cars were fitted with Champion spark plugs as
original equipment. Some are still in production, but others are not.
However, for the majority of the earlier plug types Champion have identified
a modern equivalent which is still available and compatible with the original
in respect of heat range and firing performance. The modern Champion
spark plug embodies a number of technical improvements over the spark
plugs of yesteryear:
•Advances in ceramic material, insulator and firing end design, plus the
introduction of copper cored centre electrodes means that most of the current
plugs have a wider operating range than those they supersede
•They can tolerate more carbon deposits with a greater resistance to ’tracking’ of the electrical current across the
insulator nose and reduce possible misfiring
•They can dissipate heat from the firing end faster and provide a greater margin against plug
incited pre-ignition
We stock these new Champion spark plugs and also some of the earlier ones no longer in production, as listed below. If
you don’t see your plug type here please contact our Helpline with the original Champion reference (if available) and details
of make, model, year and engine size of your car. We are holding masses of data and will be able to advise whether or not
Champion have a spark plug for your car.
Please note: In some instances the hexagon size may be smaller and require a different socket for installation. This includes
18mm Plugs with

NGK SPARK PLUGS
When it comes to spark plugs, NGK makes spark plugs for virtually every
automotive, motorcycle, marine and small engine application and they are
specified as original equipment by the majority of the world's car
manufacturers. NGK were responsible for the introduction of copper core
spark plugs and have pioneered new ceramic technology.
Some vintage and classic car owners prefer to use NGK spark plugs and
we stock a number of types as listed below. If you would like NGK spark
plugs not listed here please contact our Helpline with the original NGK
reference (if available) and details of make, model, year and engine size of your car.

SPLITFIRE SPARK PLUGS
Older cars with conventional point and condenser ignition systems,
carburettors and less sophisticated combustion chambers can show a
partial misfire rate approaching 15 percent (that's six per second at 2500
rpm). Splitfire’s open ‘V’ electrode and twin radial arcs help expose the
flame kernel to the air/fuel mixture to create a much larger and more
aggressive burn, reducing misfires and producing a more effective and
complete combustion cycle. More modern engines still have a misfire rate and
even though it is below 5 percent this means one or two misfires every second! Tuned
engines need a good spark and experience shows that you should get better performance and more power with these spark
plugs. If you would like to try Splitfire please contact our Helpline with details of make, model, year and engine size of your
car (it helps if you have the recommended Champion or other reference) 030.149 from £6.84 each | £5.95 ex VAT
