The European Union, and the Council of Europe, play an increasingly important and at times controversial role both in Europe and beyond. On this course, you will gain an advanced understanding of European law, policies and related institutions. The teaching team includes renowned European law scholars such as Laurent Pech, Professor of European Law and holder of a Jean Monnet Chair of EU Public Law (awarded by the European Commission in 2014), and Professor Philip Leach, Director of the European Human Rights Advocacy Centre (EHRAC), a unit in the School that guides and supports litigation on human rights issues at the European Court of Human Rights.

New for 2016 LLM Human Rights Law


Middlesex University is leading the discussion on international human rights issues. During the course you will engage with scholars and students on innovative research and perspectives in human rights. You will also benefit from networks and contacts for internship opportunities in local, national and international and domestic organisations.


The teaching team on the LLM in Human Rights Law includes renowned scholars such as Professor William Schabas (law of genocide and international law) and Dr Erica Howard, (equality and anti-discrimination law). This course is enriched by the presence on campus of the European Human Rights Advocacy Centre, which guides and supports litigation on human rights issues at the European Court of Human Rights.
