CHP chose the A800 Mark II version for this fl eet of aircraft. In addition to the standard features of the A800, the A800 MKII features the ability to link into the moving map and/or the EO/IR sensor, and also some new operational features commissioned by CHP, such as variable slew from the cyclic controls.


Guests had the opportunity to meet Director Gary Butcher, Operations Manager Sarah French, and special guest, Starspeed Founder David Voy. They could also inspect two of the six EC155s in the fl eet, and the Bell 429 which were on display throughout the day.

Trakka Searchlight is Chosen for California Highway Patrol Fleet


Trakkacorp Pty Ltd recently announced the fi rst Trakkabeam A800 Searchlight installation and delivery for the new Californian Highway Patrol (CHP) AS350 fl eet. This marks the fi rst delivery of 15 new AS350s from Airbus USA for CHP. Airbus has collaborated with Hangar One, a leading MRO based in California, for integration and delivery of these new searchlight systems.


Starspeed hosted its fi rst “open day” last week to show off its latest arrival, the S-92. Guests were treated to a fl ight along the Thames in the 16-seater helicopter. Director Simon Mitchell welcomed the guests to Starspeed’s base at Fairoaks Airport in Chobham, Surrey, U.K.

that it can take 16 guests at one time and their luggage,” he explained. “It provides a great opportunity for corporate entertainment or private groups and, in most cases, will be more cost-eff ective than taking two helicopters. It is also the only S-92 available for VIP charter in Europe.”


Simon introduced Starspeed Chairman Ian Field, who talked about Starspeed’s training division, which is going from strength to strength. With three helicopters available to the training school and access to simulator activities, it off ers specialist conversion training, instrument rating, and other tailored courses for qualifi ed pilots looking to extend their skills.

“Golden Helicopter” during a celebration that was the culmination of 50 years of hard work from three generations of one family.


The Golden Helicopter, also known as “Copter 50,” arrived at Papillon’s Boulder City Aerocenter via a fi ve-helicopter formation. This ceremonial formation symbolizes fi ve decades of operation as the world’s largest and longest-running helicopter tour company. On board the helicopters were three generations of the Halvorson family, including Elling Halvorson, chairman and founder of the Papillon Group. Once the helicopters landed, members of the Hualapai tribe offi cially blessed the brand-new helicopter. More than 250 guests were invited, including dignitaries, community leaders and industry infl uencers, as well as nearly 100 Papillon employees.


The S-92 made two fl ights during the day and over 30 guests had the opportunity to admire London from the sky. “It was a very successful day,” said Simon Mitchell. “We had very positive comments from all of our guests and we look forward to many more charters for the S-92.”
