APPING OFF A successful year of operations, Fläkt Woods held a Technical Symposium at the Building Centre in London on 11 December 2014.
Fläkt Woods focuses on ReCooler HP first C
The event attracted over 50 key decision makers in the London area and focussed on the company’s new ReCooler HP, which was on display at the venue. This was the first in a series of symposiums that Fläkt Woods is intending to organise over the coming months. The integrated heating and cooling unit generated a great deal of interest during the Symposium, engaging an audience of highly qualified building services engineers.
In particular, the COP and EER performance figures were at the centre of detailed discussions during an open mic Q&A.
Yan Evans, Fläkt Woods’ vice president for the UK and Ireland businesses, was incredibly pleased with the event. He said: “It’s always beneficial to present detailed information to influential members of the building services industry, especially when we have such a great product in the ReCooler HP. The performance of the unit speaks for itself and, by having a couple of excellent project references, allowed everyone to fully understand exactly how an installation can benefit a site.
“We’ve already had discussions with a number of engineers who are keen to see how they incorporate the ReCooler HP unit into their upcoming projects, so we’re looking forward to a successful start to the New Year.”
As part of the Symposium, members of the Fläkt Woods technical and sales team discussed a key case study at Sheffield Hallam University, where a ReCooler HP unit was specified alongside an eQ Air
Handling Unit.
The installation included the replacement of a natural ventilation system in the refurbishment of Arundel Building in the University City Centre Campus.
The ReCooler HP provides BREEAM credit for a low environmental impact, plus, with COPs of 6.5, all year round energy recovery, as well as quick and simple installation.
F-gas solutions app for those on the go
THE F-GAS SOLUTIONS mobile app from Climalife holds key information on 49 different refrigerants, such as GWP values, the date of any bans across different applications and any regulatory considerations.
All this information is stored in one place on the smartphone for quick reference.
The app’s calculator feature allows
the user to calculate the CO2 equivalent tonnes for any refrigeration system, purely by entering the system charge. This is an important measure, particularly for leak
check requirements as this will now be how they are measured under the new regulations.
The app enables you to look at different refrigerant solutions and ranks them using useful colour coding, reflecting the worst to the best. It can present lower GWP options to consider with similar properties to their higher GWP counterparts, plus has the useful function to email a table of solutions for future reference. Allan Harper, managing director of Climalife in the UK said: “Climalife have responded to market conditions with
this unique and invaluable mobile app that supports the professionals within our industry. We’ve seen thousands of downloads already and I have personally received some great feedback. I hope those who have already seen the benefit of the app will spread the word so that we can reach and help as many professionals as possible, including those just joining our industry.”
The app can be downloaded on the Apple App Store and Google Play for Android platforms by searching ‘F-Gas Solutions’.
