Lisle CVB Helps Local Women

he Lisle CVB is partnering with Poised For Success and holding a woman’s business clothing drive to help promote economic self-sufficiency in wom- en. This initiative is a collection of suits and other professional attire to help disadvantaged women make a first impression at interviews and land jobs that change their lives. Poised For Success serves women in Chicago and the west- ern suburbs including Lisle.

T

“It may seem obvious but the right set of clothes can make or break a job interview,” says Lisle CVB Executive Director Diane Homolka. “However, many disadvantaged women just don’t have the means to go out and buy busi- ness clothes when they are unemployed. That’s

why initiatives like Poised for Success are so important.”

The clothing drive began October 1, 2014, and donations can be dropped off through December 31, 2014. A designated collection box will be at the CVB’s office location - Lisle Village Hall lobby, 925 Bur- lington Avenue, Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Keep Your Attendees Healthy

here there are people, there are germs. From cold and flu sea- son to recent concerns regarding Ebola, the health of your attendees is top of mind. Here are some things you can do at your next conference to ensure your attendees stay healthy. • Work with the facility to sanitize rooms between sessions and at the end of the day.

W

• Place attendants in restrooms (people are much more likely to wash their hands properly if they’re being watched) and the attendants can sanitize the restroom after use.

• Post signage encouraging the frequent washing of hands with soap and water.

18

• Provide tissues in conference rooms and in hallways and en- courage proper disposal.

• Increase the number of alcohol-based hand sanitizer stations. You can always include information in any pre-conference mate- rial you distribute to your attendees as well. • Encourage your attendees to get the flu vaccine. • Touching their eyes, nose or mouth is how germs are spread. En- courage them to avoid these habits.

• Advise them to practice good health habits: get plenty of sleep and exercise, drink plenty of fluids, eat healthy foods and manage stress levels.
