FITTEST FALCON

How Alex Warden earned a perfect score in Air Force’s PFT

BY MEGAN SCHNEIDER

Each fall, Air Force cadets must pass the academy’s Physical Fitness Test (PFT) with a minimum score of 250. Lacrosse coach Eric Seremet requires at least a 400 for his players. Alex Warden, a junior defenseman, took the task even further Sept. 10 with a perfect score. Warden maxed out in the five categories — pullups, long jump, crunches, pushups and a 600-yard run, in that order — with 100 points in each. Joining him in the prestigious 500 Club were seniors Jacob Kazar, Parker Jackson and Nate Hruby, juniors Shelton Collier and Danny Brown and freshman Sean LaVine. “On the lacrosse field, you’re going to get tired,” said Warden, whose father also served in the Air Force. “You’re going to have close games when you have to push yourself that extra mile. I see the first three rounds of the PFT as the first three quarters and the fourth as the fourth quarter. Then the run is the last five minutes in a close game. Give it everything you have if you want to win.” Warden also led Air Force up Mount

Elbert, nearly a 15,000-foot hike. Last year, the team climbed Pikes Peak. “It’s about getting back with nature,”

Warden said. “[Seremet] is really involved with the Native American aspect, how they founded the sport and how they play it.” Warden took Lacrosse Magazine through all five phases of the Air Force PFT. Now go get a perfect score.
