July’s Photo: Will Rogers Center

The historic Will Rogers Hotel in Claremore, Okla., was dedicated on February 7, 1930. The six-story hotel featured Spanish decor and contained 78 rooms and seven apartments. During World War II, it was designated as a bomb shelter. The Rogers County Historical Society purchased the landmark and rehabilitation of the Will Rogers Hotel began in February of 1997. The grand re-opening was on November 15, 1997 when it was renamed the Will Rogers Center.
