SPEAK UP Photo: Water Color Skies

BY ZAC PERKINS, Assistant General Manager

October 16 is the last day the Environmental Protection Agency will take comments regarding its proposal for carbon emissions on existing power plants. While that date seems far away, don’t let time slip away from you. We urge members to visit action.coop and complete the simple form to send your comments to Washington, D.C.

If you previously completed a form received from an employee or in your February billing statement, there is no need to complete another form. We will communicate with the EPA on your behalf. If you did not complete a form already, now is the time. Contact a TCEC employee for a form, visit our office, download the Cooperative Action Network application on your smartphone or visit the site directly at www.action.coop.

Help us to send a clear message to the EPA and the lawmakers in Washington, D.C., “We cannot afford higher electricity prices.”

TCEC members answered with a loud voice when we asked for comments to the EPA regarding its new power plants rule. More than 1,600 members stood up for affordable power. Let’s let the EPA know we have a voice in No Man’s Land. „

ongratulations to Kayla Hinds of Boise City for submitting the winning photo for August. ‘Countryside’ was the contest theme. She took the water tower photo at sunset as storm clouds were building in the horizon of her parents’

farm north of Keyes on June 5. Her parents are Larry and Jamin Hinds. Te water tower has stood on their farm since Kayla’s great-grandparents lived there. It was severely damaged in the June 30 summer storm that knocked out power to thousands.

TCEC is now accepting entries for the third quarter theme of ‘Panhandle Towns.’ Members are encouraged to creatively interpret the theme when submitting their photos. Photos can be submitted using the online form found at www.tcec.coop or via email to info@tcec.coop.

Winning photos will be published in the newsletter and on the cooperative’s social channels and website. All photos submitted become property of TCEC for use in print and/or on the Internet. One winner per month will receive a special Oklahoma Living magazine 65th Anniversary Prairie Flavors Cookbook.

Anyone with questions regarding the contest or its rules should contact JuliAnn Graham, communications coordinator, at 580-652-2418 or info@tcec.coop. „
