TTG Getaway

Got a titbit or two about the travel trade? Then tell TTGina… although she probably knows it already

TTGina @TTGina As a dedicated follower of

fashion, I was fascinated to hear acclaimed designer Kim Winser speak at the Association of Women Travel Executive’s 60th anniversary celebrations on Monday. Kim, who helped turn around classic brands such as Pringle and Aquascutum – had dressed several AWTE board members in some of her designs and they looked super-duper. Good job it was Winser of London designs that they wore, though, as opposed to Agent Provocateur lingerie – another brand Kim worked on. That might have raised some eyebrows in the audience. AWTE also revealed a list of 60 of the most influential women in the travel industry over the past 60 years. One can only assume a certain gossip columnist was excluded from the list for fear of overshadowing the others…

Showing an almost equal dedication to fashion over the weekend was TTG’s sales director Louise Napier, who joined 17 intrepid teams to drive across Europe as part of the Travel Trade Crusade. Hopping from car to car saw her undertake an impressive array of costume changes, including science geek-chic and Disney’s Snow White. Our favourite was the regionally apt lederhosen she wore to join team The Big ‘O’, seen here sampling German beverages. We’ve been assured there was no drink-driving!

AS PART of Make Holidays Greener Month, we’re featuring a different resort in Greece every week in July. The beach pictured is one of two that share a name, in an undeveloped area on this peninsula, renowned for having the largest and

safest natural harbour in Greece. The beach is protected by rock formations, creating calm waters, perfect for children. The golden sand is fringed with pine forests, giving shade to beach dwellers – with olive groves nearby. Which peninsula is it?

Last week’s ‘Where in the World?” was Balos beach in Crete
