KYLE 30 Over 30

Major League Lacrosse luminaries Casey Powell and Kevin Leveille stole the headlines this season. The MLL’s indoor counterpart, the National Lacrosse League, is chock full of thirty-something wonders. And you thought pro lacrosse was a young man’s game.

While you salivate over the latest college sensations, we celebrate the old dogs that still got it — the top 30 players over age 30.

BRODIE MERRILL - 32

Philadelphia Wings/Boston Cannons

Winner of an unreal six straight MLL Defensive

JOHN GRANT JR. - 39

Colorado Mammoth/ Denver Outlaws

Highlight-reel goals, multiple MLL and NLL MVP awards — there isn’t much Grant can’t do on a lacrosse field. With his size and strength, he has the ability to back defenders down and get to the goal at will.

BRENDAN MUNDORF - 30 Chesapeake Bayhawks

Mundorf, who just turned 30, has regained MVP form after injuries derailed him in Denver.

Player of the Year awards, Merrill, also a two-time NLL Transition Player of the Year, is just as polished off the field. He currently is the head coach at the Hill Academy, one of the top high school lacrosse programs around.

LEE ZINK - 32 Denver Outlaws

The two-time reigning MLL Defensive Player of the Year is known as a lockdown defenseman who uses his positioning and instincts to stifle opposing attackmen. He can read and lead any defense and is considered one of the best 1-on-1 defensemen in the game today.

HARRISON 31

Ohio Machine

Since coming back from the LXM Pro Tour to join the Ohio Machine, the 2005 Tewaaraton winner has been a force, ranking in the top 15 scoring in the league at press time.

KEVIN

LEVEILLE 32 Rochester Rattlers

Recently becoming the MLL’s all-time leading goal scorer, Leveille has shined ever since he was drafted out of UMass. He surpassed Tim Goettelmann for the record in dramatic fashion, scoring career goal No. 271 to clinch the first double- overtime game in MLL history.

JOHN TAVARES 45 Buffalo Bandits

The NLL’s all-time leading scorer and ageless wonder still had 24 goals — including the 800th of his career — and 27 assists at age 45. Impressive.

RYAN BOYLE 32 Boston Cannons

A three-time Team USA

member, Boyle will continue to battle Casey Powell for the title of MLL all-time scoring king until one of them retires.

KYLE

SWEENEY 33 Philadelphia Wings/ Boston Cannons

DAN DAWSON - 32

Rochester Knighthawks

Currently ranked seventh on the all-time points list in the NLL, Dawson is as decorated as they come. A seven-time NLL All-Pro selection, he has won five Mann Cups, one MLL championship and two World Indoor Lacrosse Championships.

A cool demeanor hidden behind ferocity on the field, Sweeney is a polished long stick who swarms ground balls while sprinting coast-to-coast.

RYAN WARD 33 Philadelphia

Wings

The one-time Minnesota Swarm fixture also coaches the Eden Prairie boys’ team. Ward, who played field at Butler, spent five seasons in Minnesota and four in Edmonton before rejoining the Wings, the team that drafted him.
