Safety, Hazard Containment & Sterilising Equipment New Autoclave Website Launched

Priorclave’s new web site went live in March 2014 and reflects the company’s up-front policy of providing would-be autoclave purchasers with facts and figures that will steer them easily to identify the best possible steam steriliser for their application. The selection process begins right on the Home Page where answering a few key questions on the Product Finder, guides users to the most appropriate Priorclave available and within a given budget.

Priorclave is firmly established as a global autoclave supplier to a diverse range of industrial sectors that include food and dairy, pharmaceutical, microbiology and health care. The company’s success is built around its in-house assets of strong design credentials and modern manufacturing facility coupled with rigorous test and calibration centre. These ensure that quality, robust autoclaves leave the UK factory to satisfy the steam sterilising requirements of every specific application worldwide.

With over fifty standard autoclaves, models including front and top loading sterilisers with cylindrical or rectangular stainless steel chambers and with capacities from 40 to 700 litres, Priorclave has made the task of searching for you ideal Priorclave much easier. In addition to the Product Finder on the Home Page, every product range incorporates a quick-selection guide to help easily locate the most appropriate autoclave for the laboratory application. Evolved over more than 25 years this comprehensive selection of Priorclaves includes a variety of styles including benchtop, floor-standing designs for mid and high capacity applications, powerdoors versions as well as double-door autoclaves and choice of steam generation. For many there will be an autoclave to meet their requirements, however should a unique build be required this can be undertaken since Priorclave has total control over design and production at its British manufacturing centre.

Visitors to the new Priorclave web site will find it much easier to navigate, find product details plus a host of helpful information on topics such as what to consider when selecting an autoclave, information on the company’s extensive pre and after sales support. 29320pr@reply-direct.com The Compact Sterilising Solution that Doesn’t Need a Drain

If you are looking for a new autoclave, some manufacturers will tell you that it is essential to have a drain, a compressor and a suitable power supply. This is a common situation when looking to purchase a small autoclave for laboratory use, but how practical is it to locate your autoclave near a drain?

In addition, small autoclaves that require compressors in order to operate have a greater number of integral serviceable components; inevitably this means that component failure is more likely, the end-result being downtime that a busy laboratory can ill-afford.

Astell Scientific offer a solution to the above issues. The Compact ‘Autofill’ models, available in 33, 43 and 63 litre capacities, are totally self-contained autoclaves that have no requirement for drainage, and do not need a compressor to operate. The Compact ‘Autofill’ range has been designed with one purpose in mind: to provide the simplest autoclaving solution for the typical microbiology laboratory.

When designing this versatile range, Astell began by making optimal use of the space available inside the autoclave frame, fitting an internal tank that acts as both a water reservoir and a condensate collection vessel. The controller software was then adapted to automatically fill and drain the chamber at the beginning and end of the cycle. Any residual steam during the air-removal (free steaming) stage passes through a condenser and back into the integral water reservoir. This clever design ensures that any loss of water is minimal and extremely gradual, meaning that the water in the tank only needs to be replenished occasionally.

Further innovations, such as the angled chamber design (which reduces the water level required for operation) combined with the fact that the hot water is completely removed from the chamber following the sterilisation process, reduce heat-up and cooling times. Additionally, the faster cycles and the water-saving features inevitably ensure that this range has excellent ‘green’ credentials.

Finally, following sterilisation, these models feature an innovative pulsed heat drying system which is suitable for non-porous loads such as laboratory glassware and plastics.

29122pr@reply-direct.com Electric Cabinet Oven

No. 971 is an electrically-heated, 500ºF (257ºC) Class 100 cleanroom cabinet oven from Grieve, currently used to sterilise glassware at the customer’s facility. Workspace dimensions measure 36” W x 36” D x 39” H. 20KW are installed in Incoloy sheathed tubular elements to heat the unit, while a 1200 CFM, 1-1/2 HP recirculating blower motor provides horizontal airflow to the workload.

This Grieve cleanroom oven features 4” thick insulated walls throughout and a Type 304, 2B finish stainless steel interior with 1/2” inside radius corners, all seams welded, ground and polished. The stainless steel exterior has a #4 brushed finish. The unit is equipped with front and rear access doors for pass-through to the cleanroom plus an integral wall sealing flange. A red pilot light onboard the oven signals when the opposite door is open. All door hardware is chrome plated.

For Class 100 cleanroom compliance, this cabinet oven has a 12” x 12” x 6” thick HEPA fresh air filter with 2” prefilter and a 30” x 24” x 6” thick stainless steel high temperature HEPA recirculating filter.

Controls on No. 971 include a minihelic pressure gauge and DOP validation port across each set of filters, digital programming temperature controller, manual reset excess temperature controller with separate contactors, recirculating blower airflow safety switch, 10” diameter circular chart temperature recorder, fused disconnect switch and an SCR power controller.

A stainless steel loading truck with six removable pans and a transfer dolly with oven-to-dolly and dolly-to-truck latches are also furnished with this Grieve oven.
