3M: Putting A High Gloss On Your Bottom Line

From sustainable high-shine floor pads to a patented new glass cleaner, 3M will be unveiling some exciting new innovations at ISSA/INTERCLEAN. Tim Copner, Business Development Manager for 3M, discusses new products, performance and productivity.

What is the single biggest challenge facing contract

cleaners right now? The most challenging issue today is how to improve productivity without impacting on quality of service. With 80%-90% of cleaning costs tied up in labour, the only way they can maintain their margins is to find less labour-intensive solutions. That’s why cheap cleaning materials are such a false economy – if you clean less thoroughly, you have to clean more often. 3M is committed to developing solutions that not only clean harder and faster, but are also more durable, so you can achieve better, longer- lasting results, at a lower total cost.

What solutions will you be focusing on at ISSA

Interclean? The theme of our stand this year is ‘Putting A High Gloss On Your Bottom Line’, and we will be showcasing a range of innovative floor and surface care solutions to help contract cleaners do just that.

To make it as easy as possible to find what you need, we’re dividing the stand into four themed areas: restoration, protection, cleaning & maintenance and prevention. We’ll be staging live demonstrations of many new products too, so you can try them out and discover the benefits for yourself.

Grinding and polishing stone floors has traditionally required the use of specialist contractors, who charge a premium and generate a lot of dust in the process. With Trizact Diamond HX Discs you can achieve the same high gloss results yourself, using your standard machinery – it’s

much quicker and more efficient than traditional diamond grinding, and being a wet process, no dust is generated. The results will ‘wow’ your clients, and you’ll benefit from a new revenue stream.

What advice would you offer to a cleaning contractor looking to drive down costs

without impacting on quality? The better a surface is protected the less susceptible it is to dirt and damage, and the easier it is to clean and shine. At ISSA/INTERCLEAN, we’ll be demonstrating two revolutionary new surface protectors for very different applications. The 3M™ Scotchgard™ Stone Floor Protector can save you up to 60% on your annual labour and chemical costs compared to traditional acrylic floor finishes; just two coats produce a clean, safe, glossy floor that’s up to six times more resistant to scuffs and scratches than softer acrylic products. Plus, when it’s time to re-apply, no chemical stripping or
