ISSA And BBS Clean Up Management Standards With Industry Workshop

The cleaning industry is one step closer to embracing the Cleaning Industry Management Standard (CIMS), with the first Industry Certification Experts (ICE) workshop for professionals in the UK and Republic of Ireland, recently held in Northampton.

Twenty-five cleaning professionals attended the workshop, run by ISSA and BICSc Business Services (BBS). Those who go on to successfully pass the subsequent examination will become Industry Certification Experts (ICE), and be positioned to help their customers or own companies to prepare for CIMS certification. Driven by ISSA and BBS, CIMS is a consensus-based management standard formed on principles that are universally considered to be the hallmarks of

successful cleaning organisations.

“We are thrilled with the success of the first workshop and the positive feedback from those who attended,” said Keith Baker, Director of EMEA Services at ISSA. “It was great to witness such a thirst for knowledge from participants, who included professionals from manufacturing, distributing, training and consultancy backgrounds. These workshop attendees are now armed with the tools they need to provide their clients or own companies with real- life solutions to an ever-changing set of business challenges, and help them achieve CIMS certification.”

Certification to CIMS provides a way for contract cleaning companies to set themselves apart from competitors, through demonstrating a commitment

Specsavers Appoints Nviro

Nviro has secured the contract to clean the Hampshire-based training and support offices of Specsavers, one of Britain’s most popular high street brands.

Specsavers is a partnership of nearly 2,000 locally-run businesses, committed to delivering high-quality, affordable optical and hearing care, so clean and well- functioning support offices are crucial to its success.

The contract – which will initially run for one year, but is expected to continue – sees Nviro providing cleaning services at two locations in Hampshire, both Whiteley and Eastleigh. The contract includes: daily cleaning, window cleaning, carpet cleaning which includes a deep clean shampoo of all carpeted areas four times a year, and the provision of both general washroom consumables and feminine hygiene services. cleaners will service the contract, with an onsite janitor each day. This location also includes a call centre for retail outlets to contact, which operates seven days a week.

Louise Richards, Business Development Manager for Nviro, said: “Nviro is proud to be working with such a well-known and trusted brand as Specsavers. We were invited to tender for the contract by the company’s head of facilities, who had worked with us on another contract 15 years previously. Nviro has grown significantly during that period, but the fact that we have retained many of the staff members that were involved with the former contract is a testament to the investment we make in our employees, and provides a high level of continuity and assurance for clients. This, together with our expertise in cleaning and facilities management, helped us to secure this prestigious contract.”
