COMMUNICATION Hearing damage caused by exposure to noise at work is permanent and irreversible. As part of its commitment to keeping people safe in the workplace, Arco has created an Expert Guide on communication solutions that has been specifically designed to provide guidance on the selection of hearing protection which feature integrated communication capabilities and to advise on the different types of communication solutions available in the marketplace.

Hearing protection with integrated communication capabilities enable workers in high noise environments to communicate with each other efficiently and safely. People who use the specialist equipment will

be able to hear warning signals and quickly communicate with their co- workers. Hearing protection with communication capabilities should also eliminate any tendency to remove hearing protection in situations where it is required removing any potential feelings of isolation.

Arco’s Expert Guide offers comprehensive guidance on employee protection, legislation conformance and product selection. The guide also offers several communications options, including products such as two-way radios, radio headsets, intrinsically safe and in-ear microphone plug solutions.

NEW LEV MONITOR GUARANTEES

COMPLIANCE An affordable, flexible and compliant new product, guaranteed to enable employers to provide laboratory and

industrial staff with reliably clean air, has been launched by Temperature Electronics Ltd (TEL).

TEL’s local exhaust ventilation (LEV) monitor allows employers to comply with legal requirement to ensure that their LEV system always works effectively, cleaning the air to keep workers safe from dust, fumes and other airborne contaminants.

TEL Director, Richard Eady, said: “Our new product has been created in response to the increasing demand of our industrial and laboratory partners for an affordable and flexible LEV monitor. The product has only been available for a few weeks, and already we have sold a sizeable quantity to four major customers, and are enjoying considerable interest from many more.”

One of the main ways in which LEV systems fail to work effectively, is when airflow rate drops below the minimum safe level. TEL’s LEV monitor features a pressure cell which triggers an audible and visual alarm if airflow begins to fall, alerting operators to potential problems immediately, allowing them to take prompt action to remedy the issue before employee safety is threatened.
