Sections on health and safety are a major feature of this suite of qualifications, with modules including:

• Slips, trips and falls were responsible for more than half of all major injuries (56%) and almost a third of over seven-day (31%) injuries to employees, making up 37% of all reported injuries to employees (RIDDOR)


According to the latest estimates from the Labour Force Survey (LFS) – based on a three-year pooled average 2010/11 to 2012/13 – the rate of injuries due to:


• Slips or trips was 200 per 100,000 workers


• Falls was between 49 and 78 per 100,000 workers


• Slips, trips and falls have a combined estimated number of working days lost of two million – slips and trips an estimated 1,332,000 working days lost; falls an estimated 750,000 working days lost
