Ryan especially thanks Duncan Builders, the masons and mover contractors and Cotton Electric Cooperative employees who ensured electrical line safety throughout the renova- tion. Because of their hard work and dedication, those previous conversations at the campfires years ago now live on in the family’s time spent around the ranch fireplace. Devon Douglas, Duncan Builders manager, was a key part of the project and a source for many of the contractors. “It turned out beautiful,” Douglas says. “When Fran saw the completion she said, ‘I’m done.’ I laughed knowing when you grow up in the country, you’re never done.” Looking around the finished workshop-turned-home, Ryan reflects, “One of the last things my dad said to me was, ‘Carry on, carry on.’” Considering she has already added an amphitheater in the backyard to make new family memories and has plans for building on an additional bedroom, Ryan appears to be doing just that.
