Martha grew up in Saint Pierre, but moved to Canada and became a teacher. She currently lives in Peterborough, Ontario and returns home for the summer to visit her mother. Growing up, her family had a home in the city and then her father built them a second one in the countryside, about five minutes away by car. Martha has kept the countryside home; it’s where she stays during the summers. Every spring Martha arrives to find her yard has been overtaken by unruly vegetation and she has to fight to reclaim it. Her cottage is very private and peaceful.
