Emergency Lighting

The evidence of compliance must be of not only having emergency lighting installed where required but also of testing and maintaining it in accordance with the standards.”

and maintenance. They have recently released a new range, called Previx, which offers a practical combined emergency lighting and exit sign solution. The range is perfect for projects such as schools, offices, retail units, cafes and small healthcare sites. The prefix range delivers discreet, professional emergency lighting with compact housing and minimal product height making it perfect for installation above doorways or on low ceilings. With a Self-Test feature built in as standard, easy and efficient testing is ensured, in line with BS5266. The range is also ENEC certified and supplied with a four year warranty on the emergency lighting

unit, giving peace of mind to anyone who installs the product. More and more emergency lighting systems are calling for automatic testing features, to not only save time on maintenance but to also ensure testing requirements BS5266 AND EN50172 are met. ELP (Emergency Lighting Products) offer a series of emergency control modules that have two types of self test technology, DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) and intelligent self test module that self initiates and indicates the test status. The ELP Pro Series offers both these types of technologies combined within one module. This means that the module will operate as a self-test device until a DALI signal is connected, when it will automatically switch to the automatic DALI emergency function. Both the DALI and Self-Test versions comply with

EN62034 - the appropriate standard for testing systems. We all would hope that in the event of an emergency we would stay calm and be familiar enough with the floor plan that we could exit a building safely. However, in a moment filled with confusion and panic, what would normally be second nature may become more confusing. Emergency lighting is a necessary and important safety feature in any public space and with technology making it more efficient and highlighting any issues we can all be safe in the knowledge that in the case of an emergency, we will be safely guided out of the building.
