A1 Lighting chat to Intalite about 24 years in the lighting industry!

Congratulations on your amazing range; when and why did the Intalite story begin? The INTALITE UK story first began in November 1989 when owner John Keenan first opened the doors to Wimbledon Lighting in Merton high street within the world famous post code of SW19. At this point it was predominantly a Lighting and Electrical wholesaler supplying local trade customers from just a trade counter however over the next ten years the business was to see a huge swing to the lighting side of the industry by installing a state of the art lighting and design showroom and expanded the size of the offices to house a specialist lighting team. It was in the spring of 1999 where the brand ‘INTALITE UK’ was born after John began sourcing products globally and for

the last 14 years the product range has now grown to over a staggering 2600 lines. These products are wonderfully portrayed in the internationally renowned ‘BIG WHITE’ lighting catalogue, containing beautiful indoor and outdoor location imagery, showcasing high-end designed and manufactured products at exceptionally modest prices. All of the above is combined with our 99% stock holding across all lines and a 3-4 working day delivery direct from our efficient German partners (SLV) logistics warehouse. At present John now has a 16 strong team within INTALITE UK including right hand man of 24 years Paul Bester. The ever growing business is happy to remain within the present Wimbledon offices for the foreseeable future. What has been your biggest challenge to date and how did you overcome it? The biggest challenge to INTALITE UK has been rapid growth which came to the fore in 2002 when our UK warehouse space reached bursting point due to the customer base expanding from 70 to 650 in a short
