MAPEI RELEASE ‘GREEN FROM THE

ROOTS’ BROCHURE Mapei has published ‘Green from the Roots’, a new brochure detailing how Mapei take their environmental commitment very seriously. The brochure highlights Mapei’s strategy,

integrated management systems, testing methods and certification in producing environmentally friendly products across the building sector.

‘Green from the Roots’ provides specifiers, architects, contractors, distributors and end users with a confident understanding that Mapei are committed to sustainability, and are transparent in their approach. Mapei invest approximately €60million each year in the research and development of sustainable products and systems. As a result, the company has provided over 150 LEED-compliant products – the building industry's largest portfolio of eco-friendly products.

As the ‘Green from the Roots’ title suggests, Mapei’s approach and philosophy toward sustainability runs through the core of the business. This has resulted in their facilities, products and processes all being designed and implemented to minimise their impact on the environment. This has been achieved through ISO9001:2008, ISO14001:2004, OHSAS18001:2007, LEED and GEV EMICODE.

Products include Mapei’s Ultralite tile adhesive range, which contains

THE CHOICE FOR STYLE, SPEED AND

SUBSTANCE Specifiers looking to select a high performance car park decking system can get a wealth of information online and in print, with new guides from Flowcrete UK. A new ‘transform and protect’ micro-site has been developed to give a comprehensive insight into the Deckshield system.

Flowcrete UK is a pioneer in car park decking, with innovations including the fast-track installation system, Deckshield Rapide, included in its range of time-proven Deckshield systems.

Featuring product specifications and case studies, the micro-site also includes a downloadable new brochure for Deckshield. It has been updated for 2013, and features a car park product selector guide, which gives

an ‘at a glance’ guide to the types of Deckshield suited for different car park environments. As well as being available to download, the brochure is also available in print.

A technical zone highlights features including slip resistance, water

permeability and speed of cure, while a sustainability section demonstrates key green attributes, including Deckshield’s VOC free formulation.

Flowcrete UK guarantees the in-situ performance of Deckshield, and its credibility is verified by third party accredited testing. Plus, Deckshield is also compliant with both BS and DIN standards as well as ASTM C957

The new micro-site and brochure join a range of informative material from Flowcrete UK, which also includes a RIBA-approved CPD, entitled ‘Car Park Decking – Protection, Strength and Aesthetics.’ The CPD outlines the criteria used when selecting car park decking and the test methods available to evaluate such systems.

recycled material, produces low levels of dust when mixed, and has ‘Ultralite’ light-weight technology. In addition to this, Mapei’s Ultrabond Eco resilient adhesives are solvent free with low VOC emissions. Another Mapei innovation comes from their ETA certified, fully adhered External Wall Insulation (EWI) range, including Mapetherm Systems utilising EPS and Mineral Wool. Both of these have achieved success in very demanding climatic conditions worldwide, and have been awarded BBA certification this year.

Mapetherm Systems offer a sustainable alternative to conventional insulation material, limiting heat loss and guaranteeing significant energy savings. With continued determination to reduce its carbon footprint, Mapei is pro- actively working to achieve a more eco- friendly working environment now, and for the future, successfully improving and introducing new practises within all aspects of the business.
