THE FLOORING SHOW LIVE

WHAT ARE YOU MOST EXCITED ABOUT SEEING AT THE SHOW

THIS YEAR? We work so hard, for so long, before the show that I don’t really get time to sit back and think about what I want to see. Every year something that I’ve known about is even better than expected and surprises me. This year, we have so much that is new - a Trends Hub for inspiration and relaxation, a packed seminar programme with some excellent speakers, a great line of exhibitors, healthy visitor pre- registration figures, many new product launches from our exhibitors and a great demo zone. I’m truly excited about the whole event.

WHAT MOMENT AT THE FLOORING SHOW OVER THE YEARS STANDS OUT

THE MOST? Each year has its own stand out moment; something funny, stunning, interesting but for me, each year there is a wonderfully friendly and personal feel about the show. No matter how the show has changed, the people in this industry manage to make it a gathering of friends both old and new. I run several exhibitions but the Flooring Show is close to my heart for this reason every year.

WHAT WOULD YOUR SUGGESTION BE FOR SOMEONE WHO ONLY HAS ONE

AFTERNOON AT THE SHOW? • Meet your core suppliers

• Visit at least two possible new suppliers

• Attend at least one of the Business Enrichment Seminars

• See one Demo Zone event • Take tea and cake in the Trends Hub!

BUT I’d have to say that this year an afternoon simply isn’t long enough. There’s too much to see!

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO EXHIBITORS WORKING WITH A LOWER BUDGET, BUT WHO STILL WANT TO STAND OUT NEXT TO

THEIR LARGER COMPETITORS? Engage completely with technology and keep things simple; put interactive things for visitors to use on a small stand and have a few samples for tactility. For example, a couple of iPads would allow visitors to explore a product image gallery and website. You could also wallpaper your stand with product samples in a collage both on the walls and the floor. This can be very effective and need as little as 4m2

of stand, one sales person and a

car boot of samples! At an exhibition, people like to talk to people as much as see products. The Flooring Show is already one of the most cost-effective exhibitions in the UK, but simple clarity when it comes to exhibiting would make it even more so.

ANY INSIDER TIPS ON HARROGATE FOR FIRST-

TIME ATTENDEES? Sit down before you arrive and decide what you want to get out of your visit to the show and who and what you want to see.

All of the exhibitors, seminar details, and demonstration times are on the website. Make a timetable to bring with you, you’ll find it so much more enjoyable and beneficial if you do all you want to and achieve your objectives. Make sure you attend the show reception on Sunday night – it’s excellent fun and you’ll meet some really nice people. If you have the time, stay overnight and take in the town of Harrogate. It’s beautiful and there’s a lot to see and do and so many great restaurants, bars, shops and of course a walk across the beautiful Stray park.
