ville to head up Metromedia Records. In 1972, he met Ray Benson and Asleep at the Wheel and produced their fi rst LP for United Artist Records. Later he produced four LPs with the group for Capitol Records. Allsup has been a big supporter of western swing music


over the years. He produced fi ve LPs with the great Hank T ompson and his Brazos Valley Boys, two LPs with the origi- nal Texas Playboys, and two LPs with the great western swing vocalist Leon Rausch. Allsup has produced swing LPs with Jody Nix, Curley Chalker, Mack Sanders, Johnny Bush, Tex Williams, and Billy Mize. He produced Bob Wills: A Tribute to Bob’s 100th Birthday while living in Azle, Texas. Allsup in 1999 was the recipient of a Grammy Award for


Best Country Instrumental Performance for his work with Asleep at the Wheel on Bob’s Breakdowns. He would leave the hectic Nashville music scene and move back to Azle, Texas, where he married in 2002 and opened his own recording stu- dio--Common Ground Studios. He still tours with the Texas Playboys and plays Buddy Holly tribute shows. In 2010, Allsup released a book with Guy Logsdon


entitled T e Flip of a Coin. Samick Guitars released a limited edition (only 500 were made) signature series classic guitar bearing Allsup’s signature.

tive’s 75th annual meeting. T e civic center is located at the northwest corner of 18th and Main Streets in Grove. Due to anticipated heavy traffi c, members are asked to avoid the direct highway approach to the civic center, altogether, in order to aid with traffi c fl ow. T ese alternate routes will bring you behind the civic


center and closest to the designated parking. Attendants will be stationed to assist and a free shuttle service will deliver attendees to the front of the civic center. T ose with special needs will be required to have handicap stickers in place to use designated handicap parking. Due to its rough terrain, the parking area to the northwest of the civic center will be for cooperative employees only.


FROM JAY: Travel north on Highway 59 to State Park Road (just past Dairy Queen) and turn leſt ; turn right (north) on Broadway.


FROM MIAMI (Highway 10/Elk River approach): travel south and west on Highway 10. Travel 2 blocks past second stop light and turn leſt (south) on to Broadway.


FROM VINITA or MIAMI (Highway 59 approach): Travel southbound on Highway 59 to fi rst stop light (Leisure Lane); turn right onto Leisure Lane, leſt on Har-Ber Road, then right on Broadway.
