Galaries Lafayette open up in Jakarta.

The legendary department store Galaries Lafayette has now opened in Indonesia at the busy Pacific Place in Jakarta. The store concept and the outside design were developed by the architects’ office Plajer and Franz and utilised the idea of taking a touch of Parisian lifestyle to Indonesia. The lighting to compliment this design was implemented by Ansorg Ltd. The new department store houses more than 300 brands and covers 12,000m2

four floors. The theme for the whole store is ‘One Day in Paris’ and typically Parisian elements such as the Eiffel Tower, house facades and street lamps are utilised throughout the store.

The lighting design compliments this theme and creates a friendly, bright and inviting atmosphere for consumers and showcases the products in an exciting and dynamic way.

The Lightstripe modular lighting system was used, in each case equipped with two recessed accent spotlights for a calm and uncluttered ceiling look. Use of very narrow beam reflectors achieves a lighting mood rich in accents, which highlight the colour variety and quality of the goods. Lamps with different wattage are used on the outer belt of the store to accentuate the difference between the areas. In sub areas, such as the entrance and shop window, the Lightstripe system has been used alongside the gimbal mounted recessed spotlights of the Cardo series and Velo power track– mounted spotlights. The lighting creates the perfect finish to the shopping centre and puts the necessary gloss and glow on the modern temple-like department store.
