Youth Tour


Local Youth Enjoy D.C. Youth Tour is coordinated each year by the Oklahoma Associa- tion of Electric Cooperatives.


Jennifer Arnold and Pay- don Day both of Blackwell, Okla., have recently returned home from an eventful, fun- filled week in Washington, D.C. Arnold, daughter of Clint and Tammy Arnold and Day, son of Tammy and Scott Day, won the 2013 Rural Electric Coopera- tive “Youth Tour” contest, spon- sored by Kay Electric Coopera- tive.


The 50th Annual Rural Electric Cooperative Youth Tour began June 14, 2013, with a “Get Acquainted Ban- quet” in Oklahoma City. The 72 young winners, represent- ing 25 of the state’s rural electric sys- tems, departed for the nation’s capital the next morn- ing.

I met so many people and they will always hold a special place in my heart,” shared Day. In addition to seeing all the historical monuments and tak- ing photos of the White House, the Oklahoma winners toured The U.S. Capitol, The U.S. Ho- locaust Museum, the Pentagon, Mount Vernon, Ford’s Theatre


and enjoyed a riverboat cruise on the Potomac River. The group also hosted a Congres- sional Summit for the Okla- homa Delegation, aides and guests, assisted by Congress- man Lucas, Cole and Senator Inhofe and their staff.


The tour is coordinated each year by the Oklahoma Associa- tion of Electric Cooperatives.
