tered the final round trailing Humphrey by two, but collected his first NCGA major since the 2011 Master Division Four-Ball title with his steady play. “It never gets old [winning this event],” Haag said. “It’s almost like this one is more important than the others.”

Haag won this event in 1999, 2002 and 2009. The Master Division Championship is for players 40 and older. Humphrey, who started the day with a two-shot lead thanks to his 70 at Bayonet, shot even on the front nine at Spyglass before closing with a 4-over 40. Boyns climbed into a tie for second with a 1-under 71 at Spy- glass, tied for the low score of the day.

NCGA Women’s and Senior Women’s Championship Paige Lee and Sandy Woodruff | Spyglass Hill/ Spanish Bay | June 10-11

Paige Lee

Sandy Woodruff Paige Lee could have shot a 46 on her final nine at

Spanish Bay and still beat the best women in North- ern California. Feeling the pressure of expectation, Lee carded a 5-over-par 43 but still took home the title. Lee put on a show at the NCGA Women’s Amateur,

playing her first 26 holes at Spyglass Hill and Spanish Bay in 5-under par. Even though she finished the cham- pionship 1-over, it was still a dominant performance, as Lee beat runner-up Taylor Camany by four strokes. “It feels unbelievable (to win),” said the soon-to-be

freshman at UC Davis. “I transitioned well from one course to the next.” In the Senior Division, Sandy Woodruff beat out Pa-

tricia Cornett in a playoff. Woodruff played a solid first round with an outstanding back-to-back-to-back birdies on Nos. 14, 15 and 16 of Spyglass Hill and was one stroke behind Cornett to start the final round. Woodruff continued her great play onto Spanish Bay and finished the event 78-77–155. “I played steady today,” Woodruff said. “I had no doubles or penalties, which, on this course, is very dif- ficult. I was nervous but I have been playing golf for 60 years—I just needed to fall back on what I know.”
