RECYCLING CARPET HELPS TO ENHANCE

RETAIL BUSINESSES Opportunities for retailers to enhance their businesses by recycling their carpets and carpet off-cuts will be explained by Carpet Recycling UK (CRUK) at September’s Harrogate Flooring Show.

CRUK, the industry’s association for recycling and reusing carpet, will hold two

Ireland. These will include builders merchants, multi- store retailers, developers, shop-fitters, contractors, and buying groups.

A primary focus for Alex will be growth throughout under-represented areas in the UK and Ireland - with a view to establishing new partnerships, to service the growing demand for Kährs’ award-winning products.

“After 13 years at Kährs, the future still excites me! We work with a

fabulous product and, like many other quality brand leaders, we’re experiencing growing demand. By developing new customer channels, we can leverage the brand value within the general flooring market, allowing our existing

customers to benefit from increased exposure.” commented Alex.

plans for similar initiatives across the country.

Demand is growing for clean post-installation off-cuts that can be recycled into new products such as mattress pads, carpet underlay and insulation products.

“Consumers want to see recycling happen; it’s the right thing to do and it makes sound financial sense with the ever- escalating cost of landfill disposal.” said Laurance

Bird, CRUK Director. “We are encouraging retailers to recycle their carpet as they can gain tangible benefits to their businesses, while also saving on disposal costs.

As an organisation dedicated to diverting carpet from landfill, we can assist retailers interested in coming on board with us.”
