A Special Thank You to Our Round-Up Foundation Board

Lake Region Electric Cooperative (LREC) would like to thank Jerry Cleghorn for his loyalty and years of service on the Operation Round-Up Foundation Board. Cleghorn has served on the Foundation Board since its inception in 2007. He stepped down at the end of his term this year, due to health reasons. “Jerry is a good man and has served the Operation

GIVE YOUR

HOME’S ENERGY USE A VACATION

Even if you plan to be away just a few days, you can save energy in your home when you travel. Here are some tips from Lake Region Electric Cooperative that can give your utility bill a break when you take a break.

Water heater: Turn down the temperature, so it doesn’t keep the water warm while you are away.

Thermostat: With everyone out of the home for a few days, there is no reason to keep the air conditioning running, unless pets will be left at the house. Even with a pet in the home, you should not set the thermostat for 72 when there is no one there to enjoy it.

Lights: Turn off all lights in your home. You may want to install timers on one or two lights for security.

Electronics: Unless you are recording something while away, unplug all of your electronic devices—computer, monitor and printer, TV and cable boxes, DVD player, microwave, and digital clocks. Any electronics with digital displays, or instant-on features will consume energy even if they are not in use.

Round-Up very well. We will miss his enthusiasm at the board meetings. I would like to thank him for his ser- vice and wish him well,” said Hamid Vahdatipour, LREC CEO. Kathy Moore of Wagoner was selected by the board to take Cleghorn’s place on the board. Operation Round-Up is a program where the members of

LREC “round up” their electric bills and the spare change col- lected is used to make grants to the local communities. LREC Board of Trustees selects local community mem-

bers to sit on the Operation Round-Up Foundation Board. The Foundation members serve on the nine-member volunteer board without compensation for a period of three years. The board meets four times each year to review donation applica- tions and select the recipients. LREC pays all administrative expenses for the program, which allows all “round up” monies to be used for donations.

Sometimes LREC and our contractors must park trucks or other equipment in the roadways to make repairs or install new equipment. Workers in these situations 1921403 are already fac- ing the hazards of dealing with high voltage, and they increase their risk when establishing a work zone in the roadway. LREC would like to ask our members who drive Four Mile Road to help keep our linemen and contractors safe. Please pay attention to these work zones and drive slow.
