TOP 20 TIPS USING RECRUITMENT AGENCIES TOP20
Using a recruitment agency can be one of the easiest methods of finding a job, but only if you use them to their best, or rather your best, advantage. Here, we give you our top 20 tips for using recruitment agencies.
Choose the right agency
Do a search online for the right agency to use. You will probably find it most useful to use an agency that deals with retail and hospitality specifically. Go onto their site and have a look at their client list and how many vacancies they have available in your field.
Meet face-to-face
Once you’ve established contact with the agency, make sure that you meet your consultant in person. It allows them to get to know you better and you to get to see who will represent you to clients.
Be exclusive
When you’ve found an agency you want to work with, it’s advisable to stick with them, or at the most use one additional agency. Signing up with every agency on the market means that your CV may be sent to the same company multiple times.

Update your documents
Although a recruitment consultant will put you in the path of companies and jobs that are a good fit for you, it is up to you to give yourself the best possible start. Make sure your CV is up to date and bring it along when you meet your consultant for the first time.
Help them get to know you
The more the consultant knows about you, the better the chance they have of finding the right role for you.
Stay in control
Make a good note of where your consultant is sending your CV. Ensure your details are only sent to companies you’ve approved – companies for which you actually want to work! Stay in control of where your CV goes.
