Späth Appointed Senior VP SR Technics SR Technics has appointed Christof Späth as senior vice president Component Maintenance Group. In this new role he will be responsible for Component Maintenance across the group, fostering globalization of the Mubadala Aerospace MRO network by leading the component repair locations in Switzerland, Spain and Malaysia. He reports directly to André Wall, president, SR Technics.


MTU Maintenance Hannover Opens Logistics Center


After a building phase of only eight months, MTU Maintenance Hannover’s new logistics center was ceremonially opened Wednesday, March 27, 2013. The storage building for spare parts has a floor space of 7,500 square meters (80,729 square feet) and features the advanced logistic processes. With the new building, the transportation route could be reduced from 15 km to only 75 meters (9.32 miles to .046 miles). With this move, MTU Maintenance will significantly save costs, optimize its internal processes. “Our new logistics center is the result of an excellent partnership and cooperation between the city of Langenhagen, Hannover Airport and MTU Maintenance Hannover,” said Holger Sindemann, managing director at MTU Maintenance Hannover. “We are very proud that we could stick to our cost and time planning and were able to open the building at record speed.” MTU Maintenance Hannover specializes in medium and large aircraft engines, according to the company. Recently, MTU Maintenance has also completed the test cell correlation for the GE90. “The order situation for MTU Maintenance is excellent,” Sindemann added. “We are confident that our customers will feel the improvements. Also, we will be expanding significantly.”


ATS and Aviointeriors to Partner on Seat Program


Aviation Technical Services (ATS) and Aviointeriors have agreed to develop a business relationship in support of seat installation activity of Aviointeriors’ seats for airline customers. The two companies say the agreement marks a first step in building a relationship that will provide airlines with better support for seat installation on both newly-delivered aircraft and in-services fleets. ATS is an aircraft and component MRO services provider headquartered in Everett, Wash. Aviointeriors is an aircraft seat and interiors furniture designer and manufacturer headquartered in Latina, Italy. “We are very pleased to be working together with ATS. Their expertise and state-of-the-art facilities will provide great onsite support for Aviointeriors,” says Franco Mancassola, Aviointeriors vice-chairman. Matt Yerbic, president and CEO of Aviation Technical Services, adds, “This represents an exciting opportunity for ATS to work directly with Aviointeriors and their airline customers to ensure support is available for interior installation needs.”
