Mount Holyoke Freezes Tuition—Again! Winter/Spring 2013 Campaign News


A front-page Washington Post article hailed the “doubling down” as an “extremely unusual step” and predicted a payoff of “prominence in a competitive and turbulent market.”


It’s one thing to talk the talk about reining in tuition costs. That’s why the College’s decision to walk the walk by freezing tuition for a second year in a row for 2013–2014 made national headlines. It also had alumnae cheering and, most significantly, caught the attention of value-conscious young women— including those who didn’t think that a top-tier private college could be in reach. The message was clear. President Lynn Pas- querella ’80 meant it when she said that Mount Holyoke was obligated to do more than just provide access to talented women from all socioeconomic
