Laser and diodes Laser diode modules

The Optoelectronics Company has introduced its own range of laser diode modules designed for original equipment manufacturers, end-users and systems integrators. The new range of modules combine Oclaro Opnext laser diodes with externally adjustable optics, a Panasonic aspherical glass lens, electronics and anodised aluminium

Explorer XP 355-1

Spectra-Physics, a Newport brand, has launched Explorer XP 355-1, which it claims is the world’s smallest 1W ultraviolet (UV) Q-switched diode-pumped solid-state (DPSS) laser.

With Spectra-Physics’ ‘It’s in the Box’ design that combines electronics and laser head into a single, compact, lightweight package, the new laser is rugged and integrates into machine tools and moving gantries.

housing. The modules are compact, CW, visible or infrared lasers producing an elliptical beam. They offer a combination of low noise and output stability and are available at five lasing wavelengths (635nm, 639nm, 660nm, 830nm, and 852nm), at powers of up to 75mW. For easy identification they are supplied with coloured end caps. www.oe-company.com

thin film filters ...for your application

Filters with - High transmission - Steep edges - High broad-band blocking

The company says Explorer XP 355-1

delivers exceptional performance with short pulse width, superior beam quality, and high-quality pulse-to-pulse stability, making it suitable for additive manufacturing, medical device manufacturing, UV marking and other precision UV micro-machining applications. The Explorer XP 355-1 delivers >1W output

power at 50kHz repetition rate with a short 8ns pulse width and <2 per cent pulse-to- pulse stability. www.newport.com

Lenses and optics Intelligent coating system

Evatec is introducing what it describes as ‘intelligent’ coating systems, to enable demanding optical coatings to be produced reliably and at viable costs. The company’s coating system will now be able to check the optical performance of the coating stack against the theoretical performance after each layer is deposited, and automatically adjust the remaining process layers. This process is designed to correct even

very small errors to ensure the overall optical performance of the final stack matches the original design. Production tolerances should be tighter and yields improved, resulting in cheaper production costs for complex coatings while making new processes more viable. The system uses broadband optical monitoring combined with proprietary software, and can be

11 band optical filter

Semrock has announced the production of an 11 band filter with steep edges, within a 100nm-wide spectral window. The filter has high transmission and effective blocking outside each of the 11.

The spectral complexity of this 11 band filter was designed to match the corresponding
