TECHNOLOGY PRODUCTS Product update TBS1000 oscilloscope

Oscilloscope manufacturer Tektronix has introduced the TBS1000 series of entry-level machines, aiming to offer a tool for a variety of electronics test applications. With prices starting at €389 (£322), the

company says the oscilloscope is suitable for educational organisations as well as engineering and technical support teams within commercial companies. Compared to the previous TDS1000-EDU

series, the TBS1000 series offers more bandwidth alternatives including 25MHz and 150MHz models. A waveform data logging feature allows users to save up to eight hours of triggered waveforms to a USB flash drive. Another enhancement is waveform limit

testing, which allows users to monitor signal changes and output pass/fail results. www.tektronix.com

ZeGage optical profiler

Providing nanometre-level surface measurement precision, ZeGage optical profiler is now available with programmable stage capabilities. With a motorised, programmable XY stage, the ZeGage profiler stitches adjacent measurements into contiguous, high-resolution 3D plots. This automated stage also has the ability to sample

Apex 785 Raman Spectrometer

Ocean Optics has introduced the Apex 785 Raman Spectrometer – the first in its Elite series of spectrometers, light sources and accessories.

Apex is a modular, small- footprint spectrometer aimed

at competing with bench-top instruments.

Ocean Optics says Apex eliminates the compromise typically made to achieve high sensitivity or maximum resolution, and that its high sensitivity affords shorter integration times. www.elitespectrometers.com

Automated ball lensing station

3SAE Technologies has developed an automated ball lensing station to create fibre optic ball lenses – rounded-edge fibre cleaves for use in precision laser technologies. Traditionally, fibre ball lenses are produced using a manual fusion splicing process. 3SAE’s new automated lensing station enables

the large-scale production of ball lenses, which are increasingly used in today’s medical lasers and other commercial photonics applications. One medical application in

particular is laser lithotripsy, a minimally invasive surgical procedure using fibre optic lasers for the removal of impacted kidney stones. www.3sae.com

either sets of parts, or sample different locations on the same part.

Made for production metrology, the ZeGage profiler features SureScan technology for measurements in vibration-prone environments. The ZeGage profiler provides 3D optical surface metrology, with a precision below 3.5nm. www.zygo.com
