Caladiums
have their origins in tropical South America so it’s not surprising they’re
particularly sensitive to cold tem-
peratures. For this reason they can be grown outdoors year around only in Zones 10 and 11. Elsewhere they should be planted outdoors well after the last frost when the ground is warm. You’ll want to pot your bulbs as soon as you receive them to give them a head start. They’re quite easy to grow with their main requirement being warmth, well-drained, moist soil and a location out of hot, mid-day sun. At the end of the season before the first frost, dig the tubers and dry them, remove the tops and store them in a cool, dry location. Caladiums are great for colorful beds and borders. Don’t overlook their use in containers and hanging baskets, either planted alone or in combination with annual flowers and foliage plants. We of- fer JUMBO 2 to 3 inch diameter bulbs.
