Crested Iris” A native of eastern U.S. woodlands, these pixie charmers grow only 4 to 6 inches tall, freely bearing their crested flowers in April and May. The 1 to 2 inch blooms are generally pale blue with a navy halo and a small yellow crest at the base of each outer petal. The plant forms neat fans of lance- shaped leaves. Naturalizes beautifully. 2½ inch pots.

I. ensata “Japanese Flag” (Syn. I. kaempferi) Japanese gardeners began collecting plants of I. ensata from the wild over 800 years ago and hybridizing has made them one of the most fascinating rhizomatous iris. The orchid-like flowers, often up to 10 inches in diameter, are renowned for their rich colors, unusual veined markings and crepe-like texture. I. foetidissima #SIR73 An iris grown for its spectacular seed pods that explode in late summer to reveal bright scarlet bead-like seeds. The seeds cling tightly to the pod, persisting through the winter, and are ideal for dried arrangements. In late spring, each stem bears up to 9 lavender, yellow-tinged flowers. Deep green foliage is attractive and evergreen. Has a dense, spreading habit and thrives in partially shady, moist conditions.
