Spring Planted Bulbs

HEMEROCALLIS Large 1 to 2 fan divisions “Daylilies” Hemerocallis are members of the lily fam- ily. Blossoms usually last one day (hence the common name “daylily”), but the clump-forming plants, with their grace- fully arching strap-shaped leaves, produce enormous numbers of large, six-petaled flow- ers throughout the summer. Easy to grow, very hardy and remarkably free from disease, they thrive in sun or partial shade, adapting well to most locations. Varieties offered are deciduous.

20 ❧ McClure & Zimmerman

For all your gardening supplies including bulbs from McClure & Zimmerman,

Many years ago, Udai C. Pradhan, a young boy from a family that operated a nursery in Kalimpong, India, crossed Sprekelia formosissima with an unknown hybrid amaryllis. The result is this exotic-looking plant. The brilliant red 5 to 8 inch flowers have characteristic sprekelia form, but with wider petals. Plants grow 12 to 15 inches tall. Hardy only in Zones 8 to 10, it makes an excellent pot plant. Grow the same as Hippeastrum (Amaryllis). Each 14.95 2 for 27.95 4 for 49.95
