Bringing You Bulbs for the Summer Garden
Dear Gardening Friends: We are approaching the end of another year and by the
time this reaches you, a new year will have begun. Though the calendar displays a snowy scene for the month of December, the
view through our window here in Wisconsin has been anything but that. With above normal temperatures for much of the spring, summer and fall, it seems a bit surreal to think that winter is just around the corner. The snow and cold are sure to arrive soon, and yet we, like many other gardeners, are already dreaming of next year’s garden and hoping for more normal weather and not the extremes that we witnessed in 2012.
This year, as every year, we’ve scoured the listings and catalogs of our
suppliers looking for new and interesting plants and bulbs to add excitement to your garden. In all we’ve added over 80 new varieties and we hope you’re as excited to try them as we are to offer them. Just to name a few, we’ve added intriguing new Arisaemas and Cypripediums, dazzling Dahlias, and beautiful Helleborus, Iris, Ros- coea and Crinums, including the flashy C. x herbertii ‘Schreck’ on our front cover. If you have your heart set on that show-stopper, please order early because our supply
is limited. You’ll find all of our new selections designated with this symbol () for your convenience. For many people, the month of January, and the new year in general,
signals a fresh start - the time to renew our past resolutions and to add a few new ones. We hope your year is filled with new successes and accomplishments in gar- dening and in life – and remember that the most valuable opportunities for change are presented to us every day in the contents of our thoughts, in the wisdom of our decisions and in the myriad ways our lives touch others.
With warm regards, Your Friends at McClure & Zimmerman
