TECHNOLOGY: SHOWCASE Double vision from

Screenline’s Galileo For professional environments that require that little bit more versatility from their projector screens, Screenline has developed the Galileo. It features two independent screen fabrics, which are raised and lowered using the screen’s dual motors. The device is

fitted with electronics from home automation company Somfy, which ensures reliability, easy functioning and compatibility with many automation and control systems. However, if there’s no system in place, the screen can be activated by a radio frequency remote control. The dual screens are said to be ideal for an application that requires two different video formats – for example 16:9 and 21:9. This would enable a meeting room or other corporate-type environment to utilise different projector formats simply by rolling one screen up while the other remains unrolled. The Screenline Galileo can also be fitted for the purpose of dual-sided projection, or one fabric could be used as a front projection surface with the other one used for rear. The company says that, in corporate

environments such as conference rooms or congress halls, the second fabric could be printed with a logo, which would be visible only when the projection fabric is raised and not in use. www.screenline.it

AV Stumpfl cites two main criteria to make a top- quality stationary projection screen: the images must be large, brilliant and effective; and when out of use, the screen should be invisible. The lower edge of the company’s Inline projector screen, which also provides weighting, is hidden when the screen is rolled up because it sits level with the surface of the casing. The Inline solution also offers multiple installation methods. The simplest, for wall or ceiling mounting, uses the QuickMount universal mounting bracket. This locks securely into place, leaving the screen readily accessible from underneath. For a more unobtrusive mounting option, the screen can be installed within a recessed box. This can be pre-installed in a ceiling, requiring a mere 95mm of recessed space. The screen can then be added at the later stages of building works. What’s more, the Inline screen comes with a choice

of three drive options. The most sophisticated features a noiseless motor with specially designed rubber mounting. A new option is a roll-up mechanism with soft and controlled rewind, while the third option features a hand crank drive with built-in stop unit. The product is available in three casing cross- sections: the Inline 90 (9 x 8.5cm), Inline 125 (12.5 x 12cm) and Inline 160 (16 x 16cm). AV Stumpfl manufactures the screens at its HQ in Austria, and because of this, special constructions and designs (for example specified housing colours) are possible, even for single piece orders with standard delivery times. www.avstumpfl.com

Turn any window into a projection surface with Stewart Filmscreen

Stewart Filmscreen has developed an easily deployable projection screen surface that can transform a window into a rear-projection surface for two-piece projection applications. Designed for digital signage applications, the self-adhesive Mystik! screen material offers storefronts and other retail and public venues a quick and simple solution for an immersive viewing experience. The application should preferably be one that looks out over a public space. The screen can be applied directly to a window or glass door, using the adhesive backing of the material – creating a secure translucent rear- projection surface.

The company

says the screen is different from the commodity self-adhesive screens because it is specially formulated for this application; the product offers a wide viewing angle, and its neutral density grey enhances contrast. Performance in ambient light is said to be excellent, and the screens can handle resolutions of 4K and higher. In addition to coming pre-sized and ready to be attached to the window, Stewart Filmscreen also makes Mystik! available in 78in x 50ft rolls that can be trimmed on site. www.stewartfilmscreen.com
